Owner Brett Thompson began Eon Productions in May of 1998, in Montgomery, Alabama. Eon's very first print run was only 500 boards printed double-sided. Side A was the traditional 10x15 layout that was most commonly used in the industry at that time. Side B was the full bleed layout for covers or full bleed pages. While the double sided format was convenient for some artists, technology quickly made the format more of an inconvenience. The boards were an instant success at Atlanta's Dragon*Con where it received rave reviews from artists Sanford Greene and Mark Brooks. Eon's Inker-Friendly reputation is what has made it virtually unnecessary for Eon to spend money on advertising. Our loyal and generous customers have been endorsing Eon Comic Art Boards by word-of-mouth at conventions and on message boards since we began.

In 2000, Brett moved Eon Productions to Birmingham, Alabama. It was there that Eon launched The Ready-To-Ink Series. The Series featured original stories and artwork from up and coming artists, as well as some industry professionals. Some of the artists who were featured on the series were Sanford Greene, Freddie E Williams II, and Al Rio. The series was an inker's ideal package for professional quality pencils to ink over without the fuss, of having to erase underlying pencil marks or having to light-box trace (which always results in loss of detail). The series was modestly successful, mostly at conventions. Again, with advancements in technology The Ready-To-Ink Series enjoyed a short lived production life.

Brett returned to Montgomery in 2002. It was at this time he began developing his own comic book stories. Naming the characters of his story after friends and family, the story quickly wrote itself. The main character, "Cameron" was named after Brett's first nephew. Originally titled Cameron, the 12 pages were intended to be released as a new Ready-To-Ink project. Artist Freddie E Williams II showed the work to Chimaera Studios' George Singley. Finally in 2005, after several script edits and 12 penciled pages by Freddie E Williams II, Project EON was delivered to U.K. comics publisher Markosia Comics. The property was released under the Chimaera superhero comics line as a mini-series, then was later collected and released as a graphic novel. Soon the series will be available on iTunes.

Now Eon offers pencil art for download which is convenient for digital inkers. Traditional inkers typically take the digital file to their local copy/print shop and have the pencils printed onto the backsides of Eon Comic Art Boards...which lead the recent development of our product line EON Blanks. It's the same great paper stock that we use only without having the grid printed on either side. Each order comes with a black and white printed version of the Eon Comic Art Board layout grid.
Eon has services independent comic publishers with the production of studio branded customized comic art boards. We've produced boards for Dynamite Entertainment, 50 Caliber Studios, and Penny Farthing Press ... just to name a few.
Eon now calls Nashville home. We plan to continue providing quality products and quality customer service to our beloved comic book creators for eons to come.
